The Long Summer explores the colour, atmosphere and intensity of summer, drawing on memories of long hot days and the lingering light of dusk.

Vivid gradients, saturated colour and gestural marks evoke something familiar but not quite fixed: heat, movement, fading light, a memory of a place.

There is pleasure and nostalgia in these works, but also the tension that as Summer stretches on, a season associated with freedom and abundance begins to feel excessive.

These works sit in this space between memory and present, the beauty of summer and the unease of witnessing our changing environments.
